Boy dies of hypertension from his Mathematics exam

Mathematics is usually seen as a very difficult subject by many students. This mathematical phobia was what led to the death of a student on Monday.

The student who was identified as Francis Gikonyo was preparing to seat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination which started Monday, when he suddenly died before his mathematics paper.

The victim is said to be a student of Jomo Kenyatta High School . He was rushed to the district hospital in Nakuru after he was found critically ill, but on getting to the hospital he collapsed and died.

The school principal, Mr John Mureithi confirmed the sudden demise of the student.

He said, “It is very unfortunate that we lost a young and brilliant boy who had a bright future, the student had a chat with medics before collapsing and dying, adding he died from hypertension two hours before the exam.”

Mr John Mureithi also confirmed that the boy’s parents were informed of his death and counselors were invited to break the news to his classmates.
